COVID-19 PCR Test

At Worldwide Travel Health Clinic, we now offer an exceptional COVID-19 PCR Test service. You will visit our clinic, where our qualified healthcare professional will take a nasal & throat swab sample. The sample will undergo laboratory analysis at one of our state-of-the-art partner laboratories that have a >98% accuracy rate at detecting an active COVID-19 infection.

Please note: This service is not suitable if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or if you think you may have COVID19. This service is also not suitable if you, anyone in your household or support bubble have symptoms of COVID-19 or you have been told to isolate after contact with a person that has tested positive for COVID-19.

1. Travelling abroad?

Most destinations & airlines now require people to provide proof of a negative PCR test result before allowing entry. You may also be able to use this test as a means for return-to-work purposes. Different countries have different regulations, and these regulations are changing rapidly. It’s important to be aware of the specific requirements for the country you are travelling to before booking a test. This information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

2. What is a PCR test?

The PCR test, sometimes also known as the Rt-PCR test, looks for the presence of the virus’s RNA in a swab sample taken from your nose/throat. The RNA is the genetic material contained within a virus. When your sample reaches the laboratory, a process called real time polymerase chain reaction (Rt-PCR) is commenced. If there is viral RNA present, this process starts a ‘chain reaction’ and creates billions of copies of the viral genetic material so that there is a sufficient quantity to be detected and analysed by scientists in order for a positive result to be obtained. In the event of no COVID-19 RNA being detected, a negative result will be reported.

4. How long do results take?
      • Same day results will be guaranteed if your appointment is carried out before 11am.
      • Next day results are guaranteed if your appointment is carried out after 11am.
5. Are certificates issued?

Yes, most certainly! A laboratory report with a certificate is issued.

6. Is a Fit-to-Fly certificate issued?

Yes, most certainly! If you are travelling abroad and require a Fit-to-Fly certificate, your laboratory report will be accompanied with a Doctor’s signed Fit-to-Fly certificate.

7. What if my result is a positive?

If you receive a positive result, you and anyone living with you must self-isolate and follow the latest government guidance which can be found here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-COVID-19/self-isolationand-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/

8. How will I receive my results?

You will receive your results & certificate via email. The file will be PDF file; therefore, it can be downloaded on to your smartphone. Some airlines/destinations require a printed copy of your certificate.
